Strengthening the Agroecology Learning Alliance in South-East Asia (ALiSEA) through networking and sharing a common vision of the ASSET

ALiSEA is a regional platform that has emerged during the ACTAE Project (2015 - 2019), responding to the need of knowledge exchange and experiences sharing in the field of Agroecology in South-East Asia. The Alliance promotes a broad understanding of agroecology concepts and its members assert their interest in a comprehensive approach considering agroecological transition as a whole.

With ALiSEA, stakeholders could engage and learn from each other in regards to agroecological transition and contribute to raise the visibility of agroecology at national and regional levels through growing media support and diverse means of communication. ALiSEA has diversity of stakeholders (CSOs and NGOs, Farmer organizations, Research & Academia, Private Sector, Government…) and broad geographical focus (Mekong Region). By 2021, it has gathered 150 members from different background and approach to Agroecology.

  • Provide advisory and technical assistance to ALiSEA national boards of members to develop the network capacity to strategize and manage activities, identify opportunities and raise financial resources.
  • Help ALiSEA members to build a shared vision of the agroecology and safe food system transition at national and regional level, including i) the issues at stake, including the global trends that drive social, economic and environmental changes ii) the pathways to drive changes and achieve impact
  • Work with ALiSEA members on developing a financial plan based on membership fee and financial partnership in line with the governance mechanism to address the major issue of the long-term sustainability of the alliance.
