Introduction

The University of Florence is one of the most important Italian public university with a strong international vocation. It fosters cooperation with academic and research institutions all over the world and welcomes foreign teaching staff, researchers and students to promote cultural and scientific internationalization. PIN s.c.r.l (https://www.pin.unifi.it/) is a not for profit consortium established by the University of Florence to provide scientific, training and technical services. Among its 36 research Laboratories, the Laboratory of Agricultural, Agri-Food and Rural Economics is specialized in research and analysis on alternative and short value chains, origin products protection and valorization, geographical indications.

Responsible in the ASSET Project

The University of Florence contributes to the elaboration of indicators and assessment methods in Methodological Framework, supports the flagship programs Flagship Level Action Research on issues of agricultural economics, market innovations and rural development, and involves in the Capacity Development program by providing trainings to ASSET implementing organizations and ALiSEA members. They have collaborated with CIRAD in EU projects for a long time and have worldwide experiences on territorial innovation processes and origin-based quality and market dynamics.
